In beautiful weather, right next to the beach in Brzeźno, we started the third edition of Challenge Gdańsk. Today you could listen to what the Ambassadors of our competitions have to say, as well as cheer on the youngest participants of Aquathlon.
At noon, a press conference organized in Polsat Plus Arena began. On the one hand, we had numerous journalists gathered, on the other hand, excellent guests, including Challenge Gdańsk ambassadors: Karolina Filipkowska, Tamara Arciuch and Bartek Kasprzykowski, along with their coach Jakub Czaja.
Karolina will compete on Sunday with the middle distance, Tamara will swim in the relay (the start in it was to be auctioned during the final of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity), Bartek will also compete with the relay. – I’m starting anew, because of many health perturbations, but I can’t wait – said B. Kasprzykowski at the conference.
– I feel wonderful knowing that I am doing something for myself – added T. Arciuch.
– I don’t set myself any time goal. I just want to have fun and face this challenge – said K. Filipkowska.
Run & help
The conference was also attended by Aleksander Matusiński, an athletics coach, guardian of the famous women’s 4×400 meters relay team. He will conduct a warm-up on Saturday before the women’s 5K run – Challenge Women by Brooks. – This is a recreational race. The most important thing here is having fun and having a good time. Ladies and gentlemen, I cordially invite you to take part. You can still sign up – coach Matusiński encourages.
The run is also charitable – all money from the entry fee will be donated to the Pomeranian Hospice for Children.
Jort Vlam – CEO of Challenge Family will also start in Saturday’s triathlon relay. – I’m far from a professional. I’m an amateur athlete, but I can’t wait to start Saturday’s relay race – said J. Vlam.
The youngest first
The first sports edition of this year’s Challenge Gdańsk was TREFL Aquathlon Gdańsk, an event addressed to children and teenagers. The youngest had to overcome 50 meters of swimming and 100 meters of running. The oldest respectively – 400 meters and 2 km.
In total, over 100 people took part in the event.
Especially the swimming part was not the easiest, because although the waves were not as big as a few days before, the sea was not completely calm. But they all managed and came out of the water with a smile.
The race in the 9-10 years category was the most crowded. It was won by Piotr Gebhardt from the Tricity Academy of Triathlon and Aleksandra Siejakowska from KTS Ironman Kwidzyn.
Among the youngest (7-8 years old) the best open were girls, who took as many as 4 first places. The fastest was Antonina Zofia Starzyńska from Bydgoszcz.
The kids competed in sunny weather, but it did not interfere with the run, which took place along the shaded paths of Reagan Park.
